AutoUnpack

When you download files from the Internet, they may come packed in archives. Besides that, the archives may get damaged if the download is interrupted. Fortunately, there are various utilities available on the Internet, which you can use to verify archives and repair them if you need to. AutoUnpack can do more than check an archive's integrity. While monitoring a folder, the application will automatically unpack its contained archives and erase them.

AutoUnpack is free and you must go through a standard procedure to install it on your computer. The application is compatible with RAR, 7z, ZIP, and TS archives and it provides support for PAR2 files as well.

Besides specifying which folder to monitor, you can also select an output folder, in which the application will store the unpacked contents. When your selections are complete, you must click a Start button and AutoUnpack will start monitoring your input folder. If it detects any archives, it will check and unpack them. Archives that are split into multiple volumes are treated the same way.

If you copy or download new archives to the monitored folder, the application will detect them right away and it will display them in a list, on the user interface. To prevent unpacking an archive before the download is complete, the software will stay idle for a few minutes. When the timer reaches zero, AutoUnpack will process new archives and it will reset the timer. If you don't want to wait, you may right click a listed archive and select an option to join it or unpack it immediately.

You can access a tabbed settings window and make various adjustments to AutoUnpack's behavior. The software can be set to check your archives and nothing else, to unpack them in a sub-folder, to stay idle for a different amount of time and more. You can also decide when and how it should notify you of certain events.
